Arctic Red Beauty Actinidia Kolomikta is a female selection that actually likes a little shade and produces grape-size berries. It is a productive female selection, the foliage of ‘Red Beauty’ blanches white at the time of flowering, then developing an attractive rosy reddish cast in the summer that becomes even showier as autumn approaches.
The fruit of ‘Red Beauty’ has a sweet and mild kiwi flavor. The Arctic kiwi variety is far less vigorous and management intensive than the A. arguta variety. This variety is exceptionally cold hardy, down to -40F. The leaves of the Arctic kiwi variety are prone to sun scald and actually do better in partial shade. Trellising is required as is a male Arctic kiwi in close proximity.
