Spearmint Mentha spicata is a hardy perennial herbaceous spreading plant that is used for flavoring foods and teas. Harvesting is best done before the plant goes to flower to the most flavor. It is native to Europe and southern Asia. Use caution in that it is a vigorous spreader and can overtake gardens, especially rich loamy fertile soils.
