Sorry we do not ship. Honeyberry Boreal Blizzard Haskap (Lonicera caerulea) is a very large-fruited variety from the University of Saskatchewan breeding program and is known for producing some of the biggest berries among modern haskap cultivars. The berries typically average around 2.8 grams, with some fruit approaching 4 grams or more. The fruit has a good flavor and is especially notable for its impressive size, which can make harvesting faster and easier—an advantage for fresh markets and pick-your-own operations. Boreal Blizzard ripens later than early varieties such as Aurora and Tundra, generally about a week afterward. For best fruit set, it should be planted with compatible pollinators such as Boreal Beast or Boreal Beauty. Growers often mix varieties within rows for hand harvesting or plant them in adjacent rows when planning for mechanical harvest.
Overall Honeyberry
Honeyberry is actually a member of the honeysuckle family. It has several other names like Haskaps and edible blue honeysuckle. This noninvasive member of the honeysuckle family produces clusters of unique, elongated berries with a high level of antioxidants and a sweet-tart blueberry flavor that is good for fresh eating or making preserves. It is a bush that grows from 3 to 6 foot depending on variety.
The fruit tastes similar to blueberry and on some varieties can be quite tart while it is rather sweet on other varieties. For sweeter fruit wait until the inside changes from green to purple as the skin turns purple long before it is fully sweet. The thing I like about honeyberry is the fruit ripens usually a whole month before blueberry season.
