Cornus Kousa Dogwood

Cornus Kousa Dogwood

Available starting in the Summer of 2024

Cornus Kousa Dogwood is a small tree or large bush that has showy white flowers in early summer and edible pink fruit in the early fall.

The fruit is a globose pink to red compound berry that can measure up to an inch and a half.  The skin of the fruit is rather gritty, but the inner fruit is yellowish orange with up to a dozen small seeds in it.  The inner fruit is sweet and creamy and is sometimes used to make wine.  Check out the link below for a kousa jam recipe.

The white flowers of the Cornus Kousa Dogwood look just like the white dogwoods known along the east coast of the United States except the Kousa dogwood flowers a month or so later.  The leaves of the Kousa dogwood look just like other dogwoods. This plant is native to east Asia.
